In 1983, the Boise Interagency Adoption Council was formed to facilitate communication among the Department of Health and Welfare, private adoption agencies, and others involved in the adoption community. The name was later changed to Treasure Valley Adoption Council. In 2003, TVAC became a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. The Council's on-going goals include:
- Offer education and training for adoption professionals.
- Community awareness on adoption issues.
- Education and action on adoption legislation.
TVAC will continue to coordinate communication among adoption agencies and organizations and serve the community with an array of educational projects and services to benefit children and families.
